Briefly Noted

Sunrise Medical, Carlsbad, Calif., has rolled out both a new pediatric positioning stroller named the Kid Kart Xpress and the DeVilbiss Horizon LT Continuous Positive Airway Pressure unit. The colorful stroller features head and postural support, and tilt-in-space and recline capabilities. The CPAP features an on-board compliance meter that can record up to six months of daily usage data in graphic or numeric form.

Chad Therapeutics, Chatsworth, Calif., which took over representation of its product line earlier this year, has expanded its number of sales representatives so that, for the first time, all 50 states are covered, officials said.

Chad also named Scott Dunn as Western regional sales manager. He will oversee and coordinate the manufacturer rep organizations in the western United States. A respiratory therapist, Dunn has 18 years' experience in medical equipment sales.

Magainin Pharmaceuticals, Plymouth Meeting, Pa., has lost its bid to win Food and Drug Administration approval for an antibiotic cream designed to treat foot ulcers in diabetics. Locilex would have been the first product on the market for the company, whose stock price plunged 55 percent to $1.63 after the FDA decision. The FDA indicated the cream, fashioned from a protein found on the skin of frogs, was less effective than traditional antibiotic therapy.

Medical Industries America, Adel, Iowa, has achieved ISO 9001 compliance and registration from Entela, a Grand Rapids, Mich., testing laboratory.
