Caretenders HealthCorp, Louisville, Ky., has renamed itself Almost Family, a move officials say underscores the company's focus on adult day health services.
"It will enable us to build a single brand name with which our customers can identify," explained William Yarmuth, chairman and chief executive officer. Yarmuth said 12 of the company's adult day centers already operate under the Almost Family name. The visiting nurse arm of the company will retain the Caretenders name, officials said. The company's stock is now listed on Nasdaq as AFAM.
Vitalrx.com Inc., San Diego, has launched an online health superstore (www.vitalrx.com) featuring more than 25,000 products ranging from prescription medicines and beauty aids to wellness products and home medical equipment.
Among the HME products available are incontinence items, mobility aids and diabetic products. The site also offers a free "eVitals" service that allows customers to store personal medical records online, as well as to integrate general disease and product information and disease management data. In addition, physicians can prescribe online.
The online pharmacy is licensed in 46 states and the District of Columbia; approval is pending in the four remaining states, officials said.
