Car Companies Reimburse Inverter Installation

Under their disability programs, DaimlerChrysler Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. offer to original owners who buy or lease a new car reimbursements of up to $1,000 on the installation of inverters.

Inverters are wired to car batteries to provide power to oxygen systems, allowing patients to take their oxygen on the road.

"The best part is that oxygen users can have total freedom, and HME dealers don't have to worry about the installation," says Stuart Bassine, president of OxLife Inc. in Cape Coral/Fort Myers, Fla., which makes an inverter compatible with its oxygen products. -M.S.
