Pediatric Services of America, Norcross, Ga., has reported revenue for its fiscal year ended September 30, 1998, of $302.5 million, up 48 percent from $204 million in fiscal 1997. Net loss was $6.3 million, or a loss of 91 cents a share, compared with net income of $7.3 million, or a gain of $1.13 a share, in fiscal 1997.
Fourth-quarter revenue increased 54 percent to $83 million, compared with $53.8 million for the same period the previous year. Net loss for the fourth was $639,000, or a loss of 9 cents a share, compared with net income of $2 million, or a gain of 31 cents a share, for the same period the previous year.
Officials attribute the fourth-quarter loss to costs associated with closing locations, cutting back corporate and field personnel, adding sales staff and upgrading the receivables department.
These initiatives were put in place after the company's third-quarter loss of $1.39 a share, which sent company stock prices downward.
