Financial News
National Home Health Care, Scarsdale, N.Y., posted revenues of $15.2 million for the fiscal third quarter ended April 30, a 58 percent increase over the $9.6 million in the same quarter a year ago. Net income for the quarter totaled $777,000, or 15 cents a share, an 85 percent increase over the $420,000, or 8 cents a share, for the same quarter a year ago.
"Our third-quarter revenue was the strongest in our history," said Steven Fialkow, president and chief executive officer. "These record results reflect the company's expansion of its operations in Connecticut through an opportunity represented by the bankruptcy of certain competitors, the acquisition of certain assets from the bankruptcy trustee and the successful penetration of available market share." Fialkow added that the company will continue to explore opportunities to increase its market share in the New York tri-state region.
Pediatric Services of America, Norcross, Ga., significantly pared its losses in the second quarter of fiscal 2000 ended March 31, recording a net loss of $2.2 million, or 34 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $28.8 million, or $4.33 per share, for the same quarter the previous year.
Joseph Sansone, president and chief executive officer, said the company had worked aggressively to improve its cash flow and pay off its senior bank debt, and recently completed a repurchase of $29.6 million in senior subordinated notes for $18.4 million in cash plus accrued interest. "This has resulted in a significantly improved capital structure," he said.
