Graham-Field Closes Earth City Facility

Bay Shore, N.Y. In an attempt to reduce its overhead after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January, Graham-Field is closing its Earth City, Mo., facility.

According to the company, the Earth City manufacturing and distribution operations are now part of Graham-Field's Hazelwood, Mo., facility, and the customer service operations are now part of the Atlanta facility.

"This move allows us to immediately realize substantial cost savings through the reduction of our overhead structure and achieve greater efficiencies throughout the organization, which will translate into improved service for our customers," said chief executive officer David Hilton.

Earth City was the headquarters for Everest & Jennings, the company's wheelchair manufacturing arm. -R.P.
