Hill-Rom to Cut More Jobs in Realignment

Batesville, Ind. -- Hill-Rom will further reduce its work force, eliminating 200 jobs as part of the company's last phase of a realignment plan to streamline its organizational structure, enhance productivity and better serve customers. The Hillenbrand Industries subsidiary also cut 200 jobs in January.

"This action completes a major phase of our 'One Hill-Rom' initiative designed to simplify our organization by closely aligning and unifying our major corporate functions," said president and chief executive officer Ernest Waaser. "With the completion of this initiative, we are well-positioned to capture new operating efficiencies, improve our response to changing market conditions and further enhance our close relationships with customers. Our goal is to develop a stronger foundation today so we can aggressively pursue global opportunities that benefit our customers, communities and associates while increasing value for Hillenbrand Industries shareholders."

The cuts will come from throughout the company's global workforce, officials said.

Hill-Rom provides sales, rentals, service and support for products including beds, therapy surfaces, stretchers, infant warmers, incubators, furniture, communication systems, surgical columns, medical gas management systems, modular headwalls and lighting systems.
