Mobility Cart Lifts Settles Lawsuit With Chadco and Harmar

Gilbert, Ariz.

Mobility Cart Lifts, now part of newly formed World Wide Mobility Products, has settled its patent infringement lawsuit with Chadco Enterprises and Harmar Products. Mobility had claimed that both Sarasota, Fla.-based companies had infringed its patent relating to automatic locking of power chairs onto lifts.

According to a statement released by World Wide, the three companies "agreed to resolve the dispute," but terms of the settlement were undisclosed. Chad Williamson, owner and president of Chadco and a principal at Harmar, said, however, that Chadco and Harmar, while denying liability, have taken licenses under Mobility's patent. Williamson said he could not comment further on the settlement.

"We're satisfied with the settlement, and we're glad it's over and glad it's behind us," World Wide chief executive officer Mike Shaw said. "The settlement has put an end to the disagreements we were having. So all that stuff has been put to bed, and we're not bringing any more claims against Harmar or Chadco."
