News You Can Use

All the News That's Fit to Print ... and More On Being a Caregiver Watching the presidential election unfold the last two months made me realize just how fast the world moves these days. Each morning, I woke up to hear on the radio that George W. Bush was the man, or read in the paper that Al Gore might be the winner or got an e-mail suggesting half in jest that Ralph Nader should get the job.

Even as the publisher of a magazine that is part of a global multimedia company, I realized I simply can't keep up with all the news. And if I can't, how can you - and still try to run your home care businesses?

HomeCare magazine, of course, is part of the answer. Each month, our editors sort through all the news to ferret out the most critical stories and then analyze the home care angle.

But alas, the news happens too fast, and no printed monthly publication can keep up with all the latest news. That's why, more than five years ago, we launched our HomeCareMonday newsletter - to make sure you were up on the breaking stories of each week.

It's also why, just this fall, we took HomeCareMonday electronic. Now, HomeCareMonday is delivered direct to your desktop via e-mail every Monday morning so you can start your work week fully armed with the latest industry news.

And it's also why we launched homecaremonday.com, the newsletter's companion Web site. From your e-mailed newsletter, you are just one click from a site that features expert trend analysis, new research reports, top-level personnel changes and inside tips on stories before they break. The Web site also allows you to get all the news through any computer if you're on the road and can't access your e-mail.

If you are not already plugged in, I encourage you to take advantage of this service. Just go to homecaremonday.com, click on the subscribe button, and we'll do the rest.

We made some changes in the magazine this month that I'm sure you'll notice, but I want to point out one important new business tool. We've broken our Ad/Product Index into two (separating ads from products) and now offer three ways to get in touch with manufacturers to learn about new products: reader service numbers, phone numbers and URL addresses. All designed to make it easier to get the follow-up information you need.

Speaking of what the latest technology has made possible, we are working with our sister company IndustryClick to bring you a brand-new HomeCare Web site at homecaremag.com. Not only will it have a new look, but it will also be loaded with new features, streamlined functions and content, content, content. Our new site will also feature valuable industry resources, including a searchable version of our annual Buyers' Guide, which has more than 1,000 HME manufacturer and distributor listings.
