Patent Clears Leisure-Lift Alleged Infringement Issues
Kansas City, Kan. A patent issued to Pride Mobility Products, Exeter, Pa., for its mid-wheel-drive technology has ended the alleged patent infringement issues relating to Leisure-Lift Inc.'s PaceSaver Scout, Scout and Scout Midi-Drive power wheelchairs, Leisure-Lift officials said.
When the patent was issued on Aug. 31, "there was one area where we could have infringed on, so we changed [the product]. We immediately stopped selling product that was infringing," said Ron Weldon, Leisure-Lift director of sales and marketing. "Now that the patent has been issued and can be concisely understood . . . we are confident that our current Scout technology will not infringe, and that the issue is closed."-S.H.
