Transworld Healthcare: Transworld Healthcare of Hawthorne, N.Y., recorded a loss for the fiscal 2001 first quarter ended Dec. 31 of $2.8 million, or 16 cents a share, compared with a loss of $1 million, or 6 cents a share, for the same quarter the previous year.

National Home Health: National Home Health Care, Scarsdale, N.Y., saw a drop in net income for the second quarter ended Jan. 31. The company recorded net income of $959,000, or 19 cents a share, compared with $1.5 million, or 29 cents a share, the same quarter in 2000.

Option Care: Bannockburn, Ill.-based Option Care posted net income for the year ended Dec. 31 of $7.5 million, or 60 cents a share, a 61 percent jump compared with $4.6 million, or 39 cents a share, the year before.

For the quarter, net income grew 47 percent to $2.1 million, or 17 cents a share, compared with $1.4 million, or 12 cents a share the same quarter of 1999.

PSA Loses Board Member: Adam Holzhauer has resigned from the board of Norcross, Ga.-based Pediatric Services of America, citing personal reasons. No replacement has been named. The company plans to re-evaluate its board structure, said Joseph D. Sansone, president and chief executive officer.

Matria Renames Medical Devices Division: Marietta, Ga.-based Matria Healthcare's medical devices division has a new name and a new leader. Formerly Gainor Medical, Facet Technologies will be led by William Taylor as president.

Gentiva Names New Management Team: Gentiva Health Services of Melville, N.Y., appointed a new management team for its home health division. The appointments include Gentiva executive vice president Ron Malone as division president overseeing both nursing services and CareCentrix, the company's network management division; Al Perry, senior vice president, nursing services; and Murray Mease, vice president of CareCentrix.

Alliances

Matria, HDI Reach Pact: Matria Healthcare, Atlanta, has reached an agreement with Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Home Diagnostics Inc. to use HDI's Prestige Smart System blood glucose monitor as the meter of choice for its women's health division.

The monitor will be recommended specifically for pregnant women with gestational diabetes, officials said.
