Respironics Posts Giant Leap in Net Income
Pittsburgh Net income for Respironics Inc.'s third quarter, ended March 31, 1999, jumped 91 percent to $8.3 million, or 26 cents a share, compared with net income of $4.3 million, or 13 cents a share, for the same period the previous year. Revenue rose 13 percent to $90.9 million, compared with $80.1 million in the third quarter a year ago.
Prior-year results exclude the impact of charges associated with the company's acquisition of Healthdyne Technologies.
In addition, Respironics has entered into a long-term distribution agreement with Heinen+Lowenstein GmbH, a Bad Ems, Germany-based home care distributor. It will distribute Respironics and Healthdyne products throughout Germany, officials said. -K.S.
