Site Seeing on the Net!

WHO: The National Women's Health Information Center

WHERE: www.4woman.org

WHAT: This highly interactive site, available in Spanish and English, is sponsored by the Office on Women's Health of the Department of Health and Human Services, Washington, and was established in 1999 to serve as an information and referral center on women's health issues. The site map is an easy way for visitors to see how it works and to find the best places to get answers and information on questions and concerns. There are plenty of possibilities. A rotating lineup of experts answers explorers' questions. A What's New in Congress section provides updates on what's going on in the legislative arena, while yet another location offers information on recent medical technological advances. Online dictionaries and journals supply data and articles on various women's health issues.

WHO: HealthWorld Online

WHERE: www.healthy.net

WHAT: Culver City, Calif.-based HealthWorld Online, a self-managed care and alternative wellness resource, was established in 1996. It features information about nutrition, public health, disease health management, self-managed care and legislative issues. Visitors wanting information about various health problems can, in addition to consulting their regular physicians, visit HealthWorld Online's natural health research clinic, its alternative medicine research center for specific alternative therapy and a professional referral network with more than 20,000 registered practitioners of integrative health care.

Perhaps the most helpful component is the approach the site takes in assisting individuals in being proactive in managing their health through online activities. While at the site, HME providers can take the resource tour to find tools to assist their clients in living a healthier lifestyle.
