Staff Builders Sells Chelsea Computer, Focuses on Spinoff

Lake Success, N.Y. Home health care and staffing provider Staff Builders sold its interest in Chelsea Computer Consultants to a subsidiary of MSX International, Auburn Hills, Mich., for $17.5 million. Part of the purchase price was held back pending the completion of the spinoffof Staff Builders' home health business which was to be completed Oct. 12. That newly formed publicly held company will be called Tender Loving Care Health Care Services.

"We are now focusing on completing the proposed spinoff of our home health division as expeditiously as possible," said Stephen Savitsky in announcing the sale on Sept. 22. He remains chairman and chief executive officer for both Staff Builders and Tender Loving Care. "The primary benefit of the spinoff is that it will allow financial analysts and institutional investors to better understand and evaluate the intricacies of each of our two businesses: home health care and supplemental staffing."

Staff Builders has more than 27 home health care provider locations in 25 states and the District of Columbia. It also provides staffing to hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and other health care facilities in 27 states.
