Web Site Spotlight

WHO: Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Inspector General

WHERE: www.dhhs.gov/progorg/oig

WHAT: Informative and interesting, this OIG Web site offers plenty of solid information to those trying to stay current in this ever changing industry.

The most helpful section of the site is the "OIG Electronic Reading Room" where letters and press releases are posted concerning new developments in the industry. There you can also find literature on issues pertaining to fraud, inspections and news. Another feature is an accessible copy of "The Red Book," a compendium of cost-saving recommendations that have not yet been fully implemented. The "OIG Work Plan" lists several projects of its Office of Audit Services, Office of Evaluation and Inspections, Office of Investigations, and Office of Counsel to the Inspector General that will be addressed during the fiscal year.

The site also explains the Medicare fraud outreach campaigns that have been developed by the OIG in conjunction with the American Association of Retired Persons.

All in all, prepare yourself for a tidal wave of information when taking a tour of this government site.
