AUBURNDALE, Fla. — Provider Mobility Specialists announced it is branching out to offer respiratory and HME to Central and Southwest Florida following expiration of a non-compete agreement that had limited it to mobility equipment/services. Mobility Specialists now offers oxygen, incontinence and diabetic supplies.

"Our industry suffered a 9.5 percent Medicare reimbursement cut in January, and home oxygen care is being capped out in 36 months," said President Butch Vanderpool, who founded the company in 2003. "People in the industry have asked me why in the world I would get back into respiratory care, but I believe being at the right place at the right time is everything."

Vanderpool said he thinks Medicare will eventually overturn its decision to cut reimbursements.

"I live in Polk County, Fla., and participated in the [competitive bidding demonstration] project years ago. So … I am positioning myself for the Orlando bid in the first round and the Tampa bid in the second if we get that far," Vanderpool said.
