HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Action Products has chosen the Mercy Ships as its official corporate charity. The manufacturer recently donated nearly $3,000 worth of its reusable pads and positioners, used to prevent and treat decubitus ulcers, to the African Mercy, due to sail on Sept. 8. Mercy Ships provides worldwide medical care to the underserved population from a large cruising ship. In recent years, the organization has concentrated work in West Africa, giving free aid to the people of Sierra Leone, Liberia, Benin Togo and Ghana.

"We are a global company and felt a need to contribute product to the dedicated medical professionals that want to give the world's poor the best care possible," said Mistie Witt, president of Action Products Medical Products Group. Since 1978, the free services offered on the ship have been valued at over $670 million and impacted more than 1.9 million people.
