Jul 16, 2012 - 12:00 am
WASHINGTON, July 5, 2012—The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published a proposed rule that sets criteria for items that would require a face-to-face encounter as a condition of payment. The section on the face-to-face requirement starts on page 249 of the proposed rule. In general, the face-to-face requirement would be applicable to items that now require a written order before delivery or that cost more than $1,000 or are susceptible to fraud, waste and abuse. www.cms.gov
