ALLENTOWN, Pa.--Air Products said last week it has sold three
more of its U.S. health care businesses to Mt. Vernon, New
York-based Landauer-Metropolitan, Inc. Terms of the deal were not
disclosed.
The transaction includes ownership interests in three companies
previously operated as part of the Air Products Healthcare Group,
specifically Genox Homecare in Connecticut, Mid-Atlantic Healthcare
in Maryland and Young’s Medical Equipment in Pennsylvania.
Last September, Landauer purchased Air Products' A&J Care in
New York and COPD Services in New Jersey.
The latest announcement follows the news earlier this month that
Air Products had sold its U.S. home infusion therapy services
businesses and some elements of its respiratory and HME business to
OptionCare Enterprises, a subsidiary of Walgreen Co.
In 2007, Air Products took action to improve the performance of its
health care business in the U.S., but in 2008 the business
continued to underperform and the company subsequently announced it
was planning to sell the Healthcare Group. (See Air
Products Looks to Sell U.S. Healthcare, July 28, 2008.)
Air Products said it expects to sell its remaining U.S. health care
businesses by the end of the company’s fiscal year in
September.
