WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 28, 2022)—Bringing together home medical equipment (HME) leaders from around the nation, the American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) Virtual Washington Legislative Conference offers providers and manufacturers an opportunity to advocate for HME policy priorities with members of Congress and staffers through Zoom-enabled meetings. This simple-to-use method of speaking with your legislators is highly effective; in just a couple hours’ time, you can meet with Senators, Representatives and staff to give a first-hand account of the challenges you face—and what legislative measure your company needs to ensure a high standard of care for the communities you serve.

If you are new to HME or have never reached out to your members of Congress, AAHomecare highly encourages you to register and join long-time advocates learning how to effectively share your story and the challenges you are facing. Through this conference, you have an opportunity to build a relationship with policy makers and work hand-in-hand for solutions and policy improvements.

September Timeframe is Key for HME
The conference is timed so that HME advocates can make the maximum impact on Capitol Hill in advance of a deadline to pass government funding legislation by the end of September, as well as for potential omnibus healthcare legislative packages later in the year.

Travel has been eliminated, but the impact of this advocacy session remains through a virtual format. Meetings with members of Congress will take place through Zoom conference lines from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm ET on Sept. 21. One week prior to the meetings, on Sept. 14, AAHomecare will host a one-hour advocacy event online offering issue education, training on tracking your meetings and logging in via Zoom, and a guidance on how to ensure your message gets through to legislators and staff.
