WASHINGTON — Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., sent a letter to President Obama last week listing CMS' national competitive bidding program among regulations that pose a negative economic impact.
Roberts' letter is in response to the president's Jan. 18 executive order calling on government agencies to "strike the right balance" in regulatory oversight and not placing undue burdens on business, particularly small businesses.
In his March 10 letter, Roberts wrote that "DMEPOS competitive bidding implementation continues to be a concern. We originally had over 400 DME providers in KS; however, now that Round 1 has been implemented I am concerned that patients, especially in rural areas, are facing issues related to access."
Roberts is scheduled to speak at AAHomecare's Legislative Conference on Wednesday.
