The Medicare audit system puts paperwork before patients and, as a result, companies are unable to help their patients and suffer financially because of it. However, the many anecdotal stories and self-reported data are not viewed as credible and have not proved to be persuasive with policymakers. This industry has been asked for data on audits and has been unable to provide it. To successfully work toward audit reform, the industry must move toward creating a complete picture of audit activity and its impact. AAHomecare’s new HME Audit Key audit tracking system will unlock the impact of audits on HME providers. This is a massive, long-term commitment that will benefit the entire industry. AAHomecare is committed to making sure this system is given the resources it needs to succeed. AAHomecare worked closely with the American Hospital Association (AHA) on their RACTRAC survey tool and has contracted with Provider Consulting Solutions, the company that developed that program. Using lessons learned from that process, AAHomecare will launch an audit tracking system on behalf of the industry. AAHomecare will embark on a funding campaign that will run throughout the next two years to raise the $250,000 necessary for the HME Audit Key. The AAHomecare Executive Committee and Board of Directors, along with VGM Group, Inc., and The MED Group, have already committed $43,500 in the first two weeks. Industry leaders must show their commitment to this important initiative. Click here for details about how to make a contribution and to view the different levels of support.
