OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (November 13, 2018)—Breathe, an independent diagnostic testing facility (IDTF) that provides third-party testing for DME providers, announced the addition of capnography testing to its software platform.
The term capnography refers to the noninvasive measurement of the partial pressure of carbon dioxide (CO2) in exhaled breath expressed as the CO2 concentration over time. Capnography can detect respiratory depression and apnea.
“Capnography testing was developed to support the growing request from our DME providers to be able to provide this test to their patients and referring physicians. By adding this service to our platform, it allows our clients to identify and grow their non-invasive ventilation business,” said Amber Yeager, owner of Breathe.
DME clients that utilize Breathe's mobile application will also be able to access their capnography patients through their Apple or Android smartphone device.
Breathe received its Medicare IDTF number for testing in the Kansas City area in 2005, according to information on the company's website, and through the years has not only launched proprietary software for nationwide overnight oximetry testing, but has continued to add depth of service to include text messaging and a mobile app, as well as add the Contec (Vpod Ultra) pulse oximeter device to its software platform.
A recent market report suggest that evolving guidelines related to the clinical use of capnography and the incidence of chronic disorders and pain are expected to drive demand for capnography equipment in the coming years.
