CHESHIRE, Conn. (February 5, 2020)—Assisted Living Services, Inc. (ALS) in Cheshire, Connecticut has earned national recognition from Home Care Pulse, a firm providing quality assurance for homecare. The family-owned company received three 2020 Best of Home Care awards—Leader in Excellence, Employer of Choice and Provider of Choice. The Leader in Excellence Award is the highest distinction and is bestowed only to select homecare businesses that consistently place among the top in 10 or more quality metrics. This ranks ALS among the top 15% of more than 1,700 homecare providers nationwide participating in the Home Care Pulse Satisfaction Management Program.

This accomplishment demonstrates ALS’ long-term dedication to excellent care and quality improvement. To qualify for this award, 10% of the agency’s clients and caregivers were interviewed each month by Home Care Pulse. Over a 12-month period, ALS received high client and caregiver satisfaction ratings in areas such as caregiver training, compassion of caregivers, communication, scheduling, client/caregiver compatibility, etc. Using feedback from clients and employees, as well as quality benchmarks from Home Care Pulse, the ALS management team set goals to reach the highest level of excellence possible.

“It is an incredible honor to be selected for all three categories and one of only a handful of winners in Connecticut,” says Ron D’Aquila, RN and CEO of Assisted Living Services, Inc., who is also the co-owner with his wife Sharon D’Aquila. Sons Mario and Nick D’Aquila hold executive positions within the company.

ALS leads the industry as the first and only agency in Connecticut to develop a program called CarePlus, which blends care with innovative technology from sister company Assisted Living Technologies, Inc. CarePlus can enhance care and reduce costs to the client thereby extending their ability to remain at home.

ALS maintains its outstanding level of care with dedicated staff members who truly love working with the elderly. Employees undergo a national criminal background check and are trained as home health aides or have received training at a nurse aide program. Additionally, ALS is Registered Nurse owned and operated and employs a director of education that is a Registered Nurse and dementia care specialist. ALS performs an eVerify check with the DHS to assure that all new hires can legally work in the U.S.

“Our employees are our most valuable asset and we are grateful that they helped us earn Employer of Choice,” says D’Aquila. “Some of our caregivers have been with us for over two decades.”

In appreciation of their staff, ALS implemented a monthly Platinum Caregiver Award program to recognize a deserving employee. The unprecedented initiative awards $5,000 to a stellar caregiver who has exceeded expectations for quality care.

The Best of Home Care—Leader in Excellence Award highlights the top-performing homecare businesses in the nation. Home Care Pulse believes that by honoring these providers, families looking for in-home care for a loved one will be able to recognize and choose a trusted home care provider.

“Our goal at Home Care Pulse is to empower home care businesses to reach their goals and deliver the best home care possible,” says Erik Madsen, CEO of Home Care Pulse. “It’s thrilling to see the efforts that ALS is making to provide outstanding care and employment. ALS has worked extremely hard to qualify to provide high-quality care and this award allows them to provide proof of quality to potential new clients and caregivers.”
