NEW YORK (September 28, 2016)—Hometeam, a new approach to homecare that brings more independence, joy and vibrancy to older adults—and peace of mind to families—announced today the hire of Elizabeth Schepp-Berman as its new Chief People Officer in charge of the company’s human resources department. This is the first hire of its kind for the company. Ms. Berman will be instrumental in nurturing Hometeam's culture that supports the company mission of "creating beautiful days for older adults."

“The whole organization is excited about making Elizabeth the newest addition to our team,” stated Josh Bruno, CEO and founder of Hometeam. “Our employees and especially our caregivers are what we are all about. With Elizabeth’s expertise and people-first attitude, we are confident Hometeam will continue to cultivate the best talent and provide our care recipients and their families with the care and support they deserve.”

Ms. Berman will oversee and expand the Hometeam human resources department as well as shape hiring strategy for the company as it continues expansion across the country. Ms. Berman will also be responsible for attracting the best caregivers, making sure they get the appropriate benefits and create a multi-disciplinary technology enabled training program.

“Beyond consistent employment, a caregiver’s biggest want and need is both professional and personal development—Elizabeth will bring this and more to the table,” added Bruno.

“Hometeam is on the journey to transform the in-home health care industry as we know it and I’m excited to be working with this great team,” said Berman. “For me every decision I make from a strategic and people perspective will be made through the lens of ‘what does this mean for our caregivers.’ Moreover, how we take care of our caregivers, empowering them and advocating for them, enables them to take better care of our clients.”

“I’ve spent the vast majority of my career at global companies and have learned that it all boils down to the experience: experience in the homes and employee experience and look forward to designing and delivering initiatives to reflect that and help this phenomenal company grow,” added Berman.

Ms. Berman joins the company following a successful career as Vice President of People Strategy and Operations at Vevo. Prior to that role, she was Executive Director of Human Resources at Estee Lauder. Ms. Berman has also held human resources roles at Nike and Macy’s.

One of the most important aspects of Hometeam’s business model is its unique hiring practice of caregivers with which Ms. Berman is now charged. Hometeam has differentiated itself in the home health care space through its employment practice of creating an empowered workforce. The company hires W-2 caregivers, not contractors, and provides them with numerous benefits including health insurance, 401K plans, better-than-industry-average wages, specialized training and, most importantly, a career path with upward mobility. This human-centered model of hiring allows Hometeam to boast the lowest rate of caregiver turnover in the industry at 14 percent (with an industry standard of more than 100 percent).

Ms. Berman will report directly to Hometeam’s CEO and Founder Josh Bruno.
