WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 14, 2019)—The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) and CellTrak, a provider of mobile point-of-care communication and compliance, announced a joint scholarship program for direct care workers. In the current context of health human resource shortage and in particular shortage of homecare aides across the country, this scholarship will support the recipients in their career journey.
November is National Home Care Month, a time to celebrate the practice of homecare, and all of the individuals who make it possible. The planned celebrations include one week focusing solely on homecare aides. Homecare aides are critical to our health system transformation and this new scholarship program will give five recipients an opportunity to move forward with educational efforts within the industry.
“We can strengthen homecare overall if we strengthen the people who provide direct care,” says William A. Dombi, President of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC). “This scholarship program is one proven way of supporting caregivers to advance their careers in homecare. We are very pleased that CellTrak has stepped up to sponsor this program.”
“Thirteen years ago, we wanted to empower aides to have their electronic point-of-care solution that would help them continue to make a major impact in patient’s lives,” Andrew Kaboff, CRO & Founder, CellTrak. “I am profoundly appreciative of all homecare aides around the world who take care of our family and friends. They make the difference! We have always wanted to give back and today we are excited to announce the start of the CellTrak Scholarship program. We believe the aides who have helped build CellTrak one visit at a time deserve the opportunity to grow within their career. Aides work hard and in challenging situations, it is both timely and appropriate that CellTrak give back!”
This will be the first year a homecare aide specific scholarship program has been offered through the National Association for Home Care & Hospice. Aides awarded with scholarships will be announced in November 2020. If you are interested in nominating someone for the scholarship program, please reach tom@nahc.org or juliek@celltrak.com.
