WATERLOO, Iowa (June 3, 2014)—VGM Government Relations and People for Quality Care will host a town hall forum for the general public to discuss health care concerns to share with congressional staff members during VGM’s Heartland Conference.
“Caring for the Aging and Disabled: How Investing in DME Saves the Government Money and Provides Better Care for Americans” will take place June 11 from 1 to 2 p.m. CST in the Corral Room at the Ramada Hotel, 205 W. Fourth St., Waterloo, Iowa. The event will be broadcast live at www.twitter.com/qualitycare14.
“In an effort to reduce health care costs, Medicare has implemented policies that drastically cut medical equipment access for seniors and people with disabilities,” said John Gallagher, vice president, government relations. “However, a recent study shows that the health care system and beneficiaries will actually save on long-term costs if the government invests in durable and medical equipment services up front.”
The forum will discuss the findings of the study and offer medical equipment providers, advocacy organizations and the general public an opportunity to voice their concerns to congressional staff members. The event is being held in conjunction with the Heartland Conference, an annual event that attracts hundreds of medical equipment providers from across the country.
