SAN FRANCISCO (November 14, 2018)—Honor, a provider of homecare services company and founder of the Honor Care Network, announced the opening of the company’s second operations center to be located in Austin, Texas. The new 30,000 square foot operations center in North Austin will complement Honor’s current operations center in Concord, California, where the company manages its care operations.

The expansion comes at a time when the company says it is experiencing rapid growth driven by the launch of the Honor Care Network. The Honor Care Network, which just marked its first year anniversary, is a national network of local homecare providers across California, New Mexico and Texas.

“We started the Honor Care Network because we saw that homecare agency owners were often struggling with caregiver recruiting, retention and increased back-office compliance and administration,” said Nita Sommers, president of Honor. “Through the Honor Care Network, agency owners are now able to focus more time on their clients and community relationship building, which has resulted in the ability to grow their business by an average of 30 percent. It also better positions them to capture new opportunities emerging as payers, providers, and continuing care systems look to work with scaled players in the market.”

Honor aims to create a national standard to improve and empower caregivers, as well as create a better care experience for older adults, according to the company. Since launching the Honor Care Network last year, Honor has developed numerous partnerships with home care agencies and now provides non-medical home care services to older adults in more than 600 cities and towns.

Apple Care and Companion was the first local homecare agency in Texas to sign with Honor in 2017. Since joining the Honor Care Network, Apple Care and Companion’s business has grown nearly five times the homecare industry average rate, according to Honor.

“I believe the agencies that embrace innovation and find the perfect balance between high tech and high touch will be the drivers of effective home care,” said Laurie Miller, owner of Apple Care and Companion, via press release. “With Dallas having the 10th largest population of seniors in the U.S., I needed to find a better solution to grow my business to provide better quality, in-home care to the many older adults in this community that need access. Being a part of the Honor Care Network gives me the added support of an entire operations team to help me make that vision a reality.”

In 2018, Honor expanded the network to deepen its penetration in the San Francisco Bay Area by adding TheraCare in Redwood City and the East Bay, and three new markets by partnering with Help Unlimited in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, Indecare in Sacramento, and 4Ever Young Living in Orange County. Honor expects to expand into an additional state in early 2019.

The new Austin location of Honor will provide additional reach into the professional talent pool there and support the high demand for in-home services to care for older adults in Texas and the surrounding Southwest market.

“Austin is quickly becoming a hub for the intersection of technology and health care,” said Opportunity Austin and Austin Chamber senior vice president of economic development, Charisse Bodisch. “With its inventive approach to making in-home senior care more accessible, Honor is a natural fit for our burgeoning health tech scene. Opportunity Austin is proud to add Honor to the list of companies that are attracted to our region’s talent and potential.”

Founded in San Francisco four years ago, Honor has been funded by high-profile investors who saw the growing potential for technology innovation in the aging boomer market, according to the company. Honor developed a proprietary technology platform to streamline homecare operations, including workforce management, caregiver recruiting and scheduling, client support and other back-office tasks. Recent satisfaction scores among Care Pros awarded Honor a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 71, nearly double the NPS of the health care industry overall. Home care clients receiving care from Honor and the Honor Care Network rate Honor at a 4.86 out of 5.0 in terms of overall satisfaction, according to Honor.

The new Honor Austin office will be located in North Austin near The Domain, with expected move-in date in early 2019.
