WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 23, 2012—The Care Continuum Alliance (CCA), the leading advocate for the population health management industry, announces that it has added seven new Board of Directors members, including top executives of Alere Health, Joslin Diabetes Center, 3M, American Specialty Health, McKesson, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Walgreens.

CCA members approved the new BOD appointments during a business meeting in Atlanta at the conclusion of The Forum 12, the Care Continuum Alliance annual meeting, on Friday, October 19. Members also approved Fred Goldstein, president of US Preventive Medicine, as chairman. New members are:

• Sandeep Wadhwa, CMO, VP, Payer and Reimbursement, 3M—Dr. Wadhwa has more than 20 years’ experience in healthcare management and as a clinician. He most recently served as state Medicaid director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing. Dr. Wadhwa has spoken and published extensively on care management, health care services and health reform.
• Mike Cotton, CEO, Alere Health, Alere—Cotton became CEO of Alere Health in January 2012. Previously, he joined Alere in September 2010 as president of Alere’s Health Improvement Division. With more than 22 years of managed care and healthcare consulting experience, Cotton came to Alere from WellCare Health Plans, Inc., where he served as President of National Health Plans, overseeing the company’s health plan markets, operations, national provider contracting and business development.
• Mary Jane Osmick, Medical Director and VP, Medical Services,  American Speciality Health—Dr. Osmick is a physician executive with extensive experience applying internal medicine clinical expertise, focusing on disease management, case management, quality management, provider management, and utilization management. In 2011 she joined American Specialty Health Inc. (ASH) as vice president and medical director of the Medical Services department.
• John Brooks, CEO, Joslin Diabetes Center—Brooks assumed the president and CEO responsibilities in March 2011, leaving the role of Chairman of the Joslin Board of Trustees that he had assumed the previous year.  Brooks has co-founded three life sciences companies including Insulet, which offers an insulin-pump system for people with type 1 diabetes. He has been principal of Healthcare Capital Consulting LLC, which advises early-stage life sciences companies, and a founder of Prism VentureWorks, which raised more than $1.25 billion in capital. Brooks also is chief executive of Reflectance Medical, which offers technology for non-invasive monitoring of critically ill patients.
• David Nace, VP and Medical Director, McKesson—Nace serves as vice president and medical director for the McKesson Corporation.  Prior to his current role he served as senior vice president and corporate medical director with United Health Group, vice president and chief medical officer with the Aetna Corporation and founding principal of Health Strategy Solutions, LLC, a benefits consulting firm serving large employers.
• Ceci Connolly, Managing Director, Health Research Institute, PriceWaterhouseCoopers—Connolly is the managing director of the Health Research Institute at PwC, a research organization dedicated to objective analysis on the issues, policies and trends important to health organizations and policymakers. In her role she oversees a team of independent analysts and writers who track major developments across the health care spectrum. As the national health correspondent for the Washington Post she chronicled enactment of the Affordable Care Act and was co-author of Landmark: The Inside Story of America’s New Health Care Law and What It Means for Us All.
• Brad Wasson, VP, Specialty Solutions Group, Walgreens—Wasson is vice president of specialty solutions group for Walgreen Co., based in Deerfield, Ill. Wasson started his career with Walgreens in Houston as a stock clerk in 1982. Not long after graduating from Purdue University’s College of Pharmacy, he was promoted to store manager in 1986. Starting in 1991, Wasson spent 14 years as a district manager, first in New York and New Jersey, and then he developed new markets including Philadelphia, Richmond, Va. and Southern California.
