Las Vegas

After entering the market last fall with an initial offering of ambulatory, bath safety and mobility products, Access Point Medical rolled out seven new power chairs and scooters at Medtrade Spring with more on the way. The company is in the process of launching 120 products in 120 days, CEO Hans Stover announced at a press conference during the show. “One a day. Someone said it's like taking a vitamin.”

Formed last year with U.S. headquarters in St. Louis, company management includes Stover, who once headed the home care division of Puritan-Bennett, along with co-chairmen Jerry Jones and Tom O'Donnell. Jones is a former Apria Healthcare chairman and CEO, and O'Donnell has served as president of North American operations for Sunrise Medical.

By controlling its own manufacturing facilities, the company can lower prices and maintain quality, according to Stover. Access Point currently operates two plants in China with more of those on the way, too. “We're in the process of closing on another three as we speak,” Stover said.

The company has added five U.S. warehouse distribution points in St. Louis, Jacksonville, Fla., Baltimore, Dallas and Ontario, Calif.
