WASHINGTON — On Thursday, a letter calling for a one-year delay of the elimination of the first-month purchase option for standard power wheelchairs was sent to leaders of the House Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce committees. Signed by 46 representatives including both Democrats and Republicans, the letter "shows strong bipartisan support for the delay," said Seth Johnson, vice president, government affairs, Pride Mobility Products.
A similar letter has been sent to the Senate Finance Committee. The purchase option is currently set to be eliminated on Jan. 1, 2011.
