RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America) said testing for its new specialty certification in seating and mobility should be available via computer in February 2010. The exam, expected to take four hours to complete, is planned with 150 questions that also incorporate some items with photographs and videos. Applicants for the new certification must be a certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and must also obtain at least four points from a combination of some of the following activities: direct clinical service (1,000 hours of direct customer service experience in seating and mobility); clinical service delivery; advocacy (community, client, profession); mentoring/supervision in seating and wheeled mobility; presentations/formal instruction; learning/continuing education; publications; and research.
