ARLINGTON, Virginia—The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) announced it will be holding webinars on the topics of home medical equipment (HME), e-prescribing strategies, durable medical equipment (DME) suppliers and billing in October. The details of the webinars are listed below.
Enhancing HME Operations: Expert E-Prescribing Strategies for Modern Health Care
The “Enhancing HME Operations” webinar will discuss how to elevate HME reimbursement processes with advanced e-prescribing techniques. The industry panel will share tips, tricks and best practices through navigating various e-prescribing platforms, as well as how the HME industry can better streamline operations and improve patient care.
The webinar will allow attendees to:
- Gain insights from seasoned HME providers on optimizing e-prescribing workflows.
- Learn tactics to overcome common challenges and enhance efficiency.
- Explore approaches to elevating e-prescription and success in the HME industry.
Additionally, the webinar will explore the health care industry needs of cost-effective solutions to rising costs, labor challenges and audit risks. AAHomecare aims to promote e-prescribing platforms as the key to aligning clinical data with payer requirements efficiently.
The webinar will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8 by Meredith Hendrie (Spectrum), Chanel Martin (Nationwide Medical), Kara Boyd (Apria) and Amanda Smithey (McKesson).
Billing Non-Assigned to Replace Lost Income
The “Billing Non-Assigned to Replace Lost Income” webinar will explore how DME suppliers are being pressured by traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage, as well as the loss of the 75/25 blended rates loss for DME suppliers. Webinar hosts will discuss the decrease in reimbursement from traditional Medicare and how DME suppliers can bill traditional Medicare beneficiaries on a non-assigned basis. Billing non-assigned means the Medicare beneficiary pays cash up front to the DME supplier and is directly reimbursed by Medicare.
The webinar will discuss multiple issues arising from billing on a non-assigned basis, including the following:
- What does it mean to bill non-assigned?
- If the supplier bills an item non-assigned, can the supplier set the price without limitation?
- Must the supplier submit a claim to Medicare so that the beneficiary can be reimbursed?
- Can the supplier sell a capped rental item for cash?
- Does the supplier need to obtain documentation supporting medical necessity?
- Is the supplier at risk of having to repay Medicare and/or the beneficiary in the event of a subsequent audit?
The webinar will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15 by Jeff Baird (Esq. of Brown & Fortunato) and Noel Neil (ACU-Serve).
