OXFORD, Ala. (June 8, 2016)—Donald Walker, 53, a patient of Gentiva Hospice Oxford and avid NASCAR fan, will take three laps around Talladega Superspeedway, courtesy of the NASCAR Racing Experience, Saturday, June 11 at 11 a.m. at Talladega Superspeedway in Lincoln, Alabama. Gentiva Hospice Oxford seeks to improve the quality of life of the terminally ill patients it serves, and that often includes honoring dying wishes that they may have. Walker’s wife told Gentiva social worker Christy Ramey about her husband’s love of NASCAR, and Ramey contacted the racetrack to see what they could do to accommodate her patient’s interest. A representative from the NASCAR Racing Experience offered three laps around the track in a racecar with a professional driver, and on Saturday, Walker will experience Talladega in a way many dream of but never get to do, thanks to Gentiva and the NASCAR Racing Experience.
