TORRANCE, Calif. (March 25, 2014)—Convaid, Inc., a leading manufacturer of lightweight, compact-folding, adaptive-assisted wheelchairs, is joining United Parcel Service (UPS) in its sustainability efforts by participating in the freight company’s innovative “UPS carbon neutral” program, allowing shippers to offset the environmental impact of transporting their freight with contributions based on each shipment’s CO2 emissions. Revenue from the program has supported projects that include reforestation, landfill gas destruction, wastewater treatment and methane destruction.
Currently, Convaid ships about 80 packages per day. With an average UPS carbon neutral contribution of five cents per package, that adds up to about $1,040 each year.
“We at Convaid share UPS’s concern about the impact shipping our products has on the environment,” said Convaid President Chris Braun. “We embrace the opportunity to help offset this by participating in programs that help make the world safer and more sustainable for us all.” To learn more, visitconvaid.com
