LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. (June 16, 2021)—Family Resource Home Care announced acquisition of both Adeo In Home Care, a Tigard, Oregon-based homecare agency and Helping Hands Home Care, a Portland, Oregon-based homecare agency—two of the largest, independently owned agencies in the state. The purchases signal a large strategic move and investment in the state by Family Resource, with the agency now covering 79% of the population with the intent to continue to expand the footprint to include 92% of the Oregon population. The acquisitions are part of Family Resource’s overarching plan to continue expanding its geographic footprint and share of the Pacific Northwest private duty home care market. The addition of Adeo and Helping Hands brings the company’s total locations to 24 in three states.

“With Adeo and Helping Hands, we further advance our plan of serving all major metropolitan markets in the entire Pacific Northwest,” said Jeff Wiberg, Family Resource Home Care CEO. “This depth and breadth of our geographical reach positions us well to partner with large hospital and health systems and post-acute providers who serve the region.”

Family Resource is the largest independent homecare agency in the Northwest and one of the largest in the United States. It provides services primarily to the elderly such as personal care, medication management, meal preparation, housekeeping, companionship, dementia support and end-of-life, transitional and respite care. With the aging boomer population, demand for these services is on the rise.

“After 15 years of serving thousands of seniors in Oregon, I was ready to join forces with a likeminded company that would help expand our reach,” said Kevin Call, founder and owner of Adeo In Home Care. “In Family Resource, we found the ideal partner who could provide the resources for growth, as well as alignment with Adeo’s core values and culture.”

"We are excited to be joining the FRHC team, as I believe we share best practices and the mission of enhancing the lives of Oregonians by providing compassionate, world-class care,” said Toby Forsberg, owner of Helping Hands. “FRHC has displayed an alignment of core beliefs to help foster better health outcomes for our clients, and a commitment to respecting, cultivating and providing greater benefits to our beloved and hard-working staff. I believe together we can achieve bigger and broader goals that benefit all stakeholders involved. We wouldn't be making this change otherwise."

Call founded Adeo In Home Care in 2006, inspired by his grandfather’s 10-year journey with Alzheimer’s. The company has offices in Tigard/Portland, Newport, St. Helens and Woodburn, Oregon and employs approximately 100 people throughout the state. Forsberg has led Helping Hands for over 11 years, helping to fuel its growth and expansion to nearly 500 employees. The company has two offices in the Portland area and offices in Hillsboro, The Dalles, Hood River, Lincoln City, Corvallis/Albany, Salem, Bend/Redmond, Pendleton and Eugene. Both Call and Forsberg will remain employed with the company, with Call serving as a Portland regional manager and Forsberg stepping into a director of strategic development role. All office and caregiving staff have also been offered roles with Family Resource in their current locations.

“We are grateful that Adeo and Helping Hands selected us and will serve as the vehicle for our entrance into the Oregon market. Given the many merger and acquisition options available to them, we believe that speaks to our shared reputation for a commitment to quality and values,” said Wiberg. “We are honored to welcome these new employees and clients into our family and together realize our purpose of improving more lives. We continue actively seeking agencies in Oregon to join our company, in order to scale their business and be ready for the future of our industry. With greater demand and deeper integration into the healthcare continuum on the horizon, smaller agencies can benefit from the resources we bring to the table.”

Family Resource is headquartered in Liberty Lake, Washington, and has field offices in Arlington, Bellevue, Kennewick, Seattle, Spokane and Tacoma in Washington, and Boise and Moscow, Idaho. In 2020, the company entered into an investment partnership with Great Point Partners, a healthcare-focused private equity group based in Greenwich, Connecticut. As one of Great Point’s portfolio companies, Family Resource is pursing ongoing strategic market share growth, industry acquisitions and geographic expansion.
