New scale offers portable approach to bariatric weighing

A new portable scale by Detecto, a division of Cardinal Scale Manufacturing Co., is being marketed for mobile bariatric weighing. The model DR660 portable scale is 21.5 inches wide and only 2 inches high. It requires only a minimal step and features a non-skid, rubber mat. It has a 660-pound capacity, 1-inch high bold LCD readouts, RS232 serial port for EMR/EHR connectivity, carrying handle, and rechargeable built-in battery power. A HOLD key retains weight on the display after a patient has stepped off the scale.
