WATERLOO, Iowa (June 7, 2022)—The Orthotic and Prosthetic Group of America (OPGA) has announced that the nomination period for the 2022 O&P Woman of the Year Award is open.
The annual award, organized by OPGA, is open to all women who work in the profession. Nominators are encouraged to provide examples of how the nominee has made significant contributions throughout her career to serve her patients, community, business and the orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) profession.
“We’re excited to continue recognizing the women in O&P who create impactful and positive experiences for the patients and communities they serve. We hope to not only highlight existing leaders, but also inspire action and mentorship to grow the O&P architects of tomorrow,” said Todd Eagen, president of OPGA, a division of VGM & Associates. “There are so many deserving candidates out there. We all know a woman who exemplifies everything that is exceptional about the O&P community, so take a moment and nominate someone today.”
In 2021, Ashlie White, Director of Health Policy and Strategic Alliances with American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, was selected from a group of outstanding women as the fifth O&P Woman of the Year.
“I first met Ashlie at the 2015 lower limb LCD hearing in Baltimore,” said Eagen. “Since then, she has become a national leader for the O&P profession advocating for positive legislation. Ashlie has played a key role in recent congressional wins, and I couldn’t happier that she has been recognized as the 2021 O&P Woman of the Year.”
Nominations must be submitted by July 15 and can be made online by visiting the OPGA website. The 2022 O&P Woman of the Year Award winner will be selected by a committee of O&P professionals.
The winner of this award will be announced during the AOPA National Assembly. More details on the ceremony will be released in the future.
