MOUNT JULIET, Tennessee—Sunrise Medical, a mobility product designer and manufacturer, announced the launch of the Leckey “MyWay” Pedal, a new elliptical pedal for the “MyWay+” Gait Trainer. The pedal aims to introduce elliptical motion while standing, promote movement and enhance walking ability.
Leckey, a product developer for pediatric seating systems, standers and gait trainers, seeks to create products that improve the lives of children and their families. With the creation of the MyWay Pedal, the company said it aims to help users strengthen anti-gravity muscles, support movement patterns and encourage independence. Additionally, the pedal intends to improve walking quality and endurance, encourage greater activity and make exercise more enjoyable.
The pedal’s elliptical motion aims to provide a sensory-motor experience similar to walking. By stretching the lower limbs in a longer forward-and-back movement, the pedal seeks to enhance joint loading around the hips, aid development and promote better alignment. Together, the company said the MyWay Pedal and MyWay+ intend to meet every child’s unique needs and abilities.
