WASHINGTON—The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) launched a new video campaign highlighting the impact of home medical equipment (HME) through the story of Brandon, a young professional and quadriplegic whose "journey is a testament to the freedom, independence and purpose that HME makes possible," AAHomecare said.
Two Videos. One Mission. A Stronger Industry.
AAHomecare created two targeted video resources to help HME stakeholders showcase the industry’s value available at aahomecare.org/value-of-hme-advocacy-tools:
- 5-Minute Mini-Documentary: A compelling story for communities, customers (end users/caregivers), and the public, designed for social media and outreach to illustrate how HME transforms lives.
- Short Advocacy Video: A concise, policy-driven message for payer and legislator meetings, reinforcing why HME access must be protected.
A Toolkit for Action: Helping the Industry Make Its Case
To maximize the impact of HME stakeholders, AAHomecare developed the Value of Homecare Toolkit, which is available on the AAHomecare website. This resource includes:
- Video links and distribution guidance
- Social media content for easy sharing
- Value of HME talking points and industry data to strengthen messaging
- Email templates for outreach to legislators/payers, end user customers and HME staff
“Our industry is more than equipment; we improve independence, provide dignity, and maximize health outcomes where people prefer to live—home,” said Tom Ryan, president & CEO of AAHomecare. “These videos are a testament to the incredible role our industry plays in the health care continuum and why policies must support continued access to care.”
Join AAHomecare In Strengthening The Case For HME & Home-Based Care
HME stakeholders can help spread the message by:
- Sharing the mini-documentary on social media highlights the real-world impact of home-based care
- Using the advocacy video in meetings with policymakers, demonstrating the real-world impact that policies and reimbursement have on people’s lives and access to care
- Leveraging the toolkit to amplify the industry’s message and drive action
Additionally, you can share the public-facing web page, which provides resources for people who use HME and their family caregivers to learn more about home-based care and engage in efforts to protect access.
From Personal Stories to Policy Change
“The HME Industry has an incredible story to tell,” said Ashley Plauché, senior director of brand marketing at AAHomecare. “HME changes lives every day, and this campaign provides additional tools we can use to ensure our role and impact is recognized, valued, and protected.”
