The companies brought critical aid & essential diabetes supplies to Asheville, North Carolina, to aid relief efforts after Hurricane Helene

CARLSBAD, California—Advanced Diabetes Supply (ADS) and US MED, two national distributors of specialized diabetes devices, have partnered with Omnis Health—a diabetes testing supplies provider—to bring diabetes testing supplies to the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville, North Carolina. The donation of diabetes management supplies will include blood glucose meters, lancets and test strips.

“Asheville was one of the areas in Western North Carolina that was most affected by Hurricane Helene,” said Bill Mixon, CEO of ADS. “We know the people of this region are working to put their lives back together, and this was a way we could bring some peace of mind to those living with diabetes.”

MAHEC plans to collaborate with community partners in order to distribute the supplies to four emergency shelters—including AB Tech Medical, AB Tech Non-Medical, WNC Agricultural Center and Gold's Gym—and the Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry Free Clinic.

“As our community recovers from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, many patients have had disruptions in access to medical care and needed medications and medical supplies,” said Bill Hitch, vice chair of pharmacotherapy at MAHEC. “This generous donation from ADS and Omnis Health will help ensure patients have access to needed medical equipment during this critical time in our community’s recovery.”

ADS aims to continue looking for ways to aid recovery efforts and support those impacted by Hurricane Helene.
