OWINGS MILLS, Maryland—The Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC), a credentialing organization that provides accreditation for facilities that supply durable medical equipment, orthotic and prosthetic products, announced the launch of a new accreditation product for pharmacies, in partnership with the Long-Term Care at Home Pharmacy Quality Commission (LTC@HQC).
BOC will be one of the qualified accrediting organizations able to offer pharmacies the Long-Term Care at Home Pharmacy Accreditation, which aims to demonstrate a pharmacy's commitment to service, medication management and patient support. The pharmacy accreditation aims to validate the standards established by LTC@HQC, as well as support pharmacies in delivering patient-centered care for individuals with long-term health care needs who qualify for receiving at-home care. Additionally, this accreditation model seeks to replicate the continuity of care that is traditionally found in long-term care facilities, but in a familiar, at-home setting where patients are more comfortable.
“This partnership with the Long-Term Care at Home Pharmacy Quality Commission represents an innovative approach to the provision of care for patients, and BOC is proud to bring our 40 years of credentialing experience forward to support this important new accreditation,” said Judi Knott, president and CEO of BOC. “The Long-Term Care at Home Pharmacy Accreditation establishes the standard for pharmacies providing home-based, long-term care and validates superior service, meticulous medication management and unwavering patient support.”
With the new pharmacy accreditation, BOC said it intends to assure plans and payers that pharmacy providers meet standards that lead to improved patient safety and efficient quality care delivery. For pharmacies interested in supporting at-home care patients, accreditation intends to provide a gold mark in compliance and service standards, as well as open revenue streams and offer a competitive edge and differentiation in the marketplace.
“We are proud to join forces with BOC on this initiative and are inspired by their leadership as the first accrediting organization to embrace this new accreditation,” said Lindsay Dymowski Constantino, founder and president of LTC@HQC. “This milestone helps us set the stage for our nation's aging population to receive exceptional long-term care in the comfort of their own homes.”
