PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. (May 5, 2022)—Brightree announced that President and CEO Matt Mellott has been awarded “Best MedTech CEO” by MedTech Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies and products in the global health and medical technology market.
“[Home medical equipment (HME)] providers are facing pressure from new competitors in the market while patients increasingly demand consumer-like experiences with their health care professionals, which impacts profit margins,” said James Johnson, managing director at MedTech Breakthrough. “Despite these challenges, Matt Mellott’s leadership has kept Brightree as an industry leader with his four-point connected care vision.”
Since taking over as president and CEO in 2016, Mellott has been the driving force behind Brightree's focus on improving the patient experience, delivering operational efficiencies, and driving revenue growth. Before his time at Brightree, Mellott was president of a sleep disorder diagnostic testing and respiratory therapy services center in South Carolina and an early adopter of Brightree’s solutions. He has since worked tirelessly to ensure that Brightree is positioned to meet the challenges of the changing marketplace. Mellott has significantly built up Brightree’s product team and led this group to develop the first patient-centric HME connected care strategy—enabling providers to deliver an on-demand patient experience, improve data sharing with referral sources to enhance continuity of care and business connectivity, provide payers with data-driven information to support value-based care, and empower patients and their family members to be more engaged in their own care.
MedTech Breakthrough has awarded Brightree for its innovative leadership twice before:
- In 2021 for “Best New Technology Solution for Healthcare Payment” (Brightree Patient Collections); and
- 2019 for “Best Overall Health Administration Software” (Brightree Home Health and Hospice EHR).
Brightree’s parent company, ResMed, also won a 2019 MedTech Breakthrough award, “Best Overall Medical Device Product” for the ResMed AirMini, the world’s smallest CPAP machine.
“This award is a testament to our team's hard work and dedication,” said Mellott. “At Brightree—and across ResMed—we’re constantly striving to improve the way health care is delivered so that the healthcare professionals we can empower can help reduce the impact of chronic disease and lower health care costs everywhere.”
The award program received over 3,900 nominations from more than 15 countries around the world this year. All award nominations were evaluated by an independent panel of experts within the MedTech industry, including medical professionals, journalists, analysts and technology executives.
