BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (June 29, 2017)—Nashville Medical News has selected Corina K. Tracy, chief operating officer of Compassus, for its Class of 2017 Women to Watch, recognizing 10 of the top female health care leaders in the Nashville region.
“Corina is exceptional by any standard, but it is a particularly significant professional tribute to be paid to her here in Nashville, which is recognized as the nation’s health care services capital,” said Compassus CEO Jim Deal.
The Nashville health care industry is home to more than 400 health care companies that represent diverse segments of the industry and contribute an overall economic benefit of $38.8 billion and more than 250,000 jobs to the local economy annually, according to the Nashville Health Care Council. Among these are 18 publicly traded health care company headquarters that generate approximately 500,000 jobs and $78 billion in annual revenue worldwide. Due to the dynamic changes occurring in health care, Nashville is also an elite city for entrepreneurship. From 2005 through 2015, venture capital firms invested more than $1.6 billion in more than 300 Nashville-based health care companies.
The women honored by the Nashville Medical News this year represent the collaborative effort required to deliver quality care in a highly complex, heavily regulated industry. In addition to making an impact on the health care community, the honorees serve on numerous industry boards and organizations and participate in mentorship programs to lead and influence the future of health care professionals.
“I’m honored to be recognized alongside such accomplished industry leaders,” said Tracy. “Most importantly, I’m incredibly grateful to have a career that allows me to truly make a difference in the world, and I’m humbled to be acknowledged for doing work I love.”
Tracy joined Compassus, a nationwide network of community-based hospice, palliative and home health programs, in 2003 as director of clinical services. Within five years, she advanced to regional management with operational oversight of facilities spreading five states. In 2014, she relocated from Iowa to Nashville to join the company’s executive team and has since assumed responsibility for its more than 151 palliative care, hospice and home health locations in 31 states.
“Corina has dedicated herself to ensure individuals receive quality, person-centered care at the end of life, and this much-deserved honor pays tribute to her tremendous efforts over the past two decades,” said Jim Deal, CEO of Compassus. “She is not only an integral part of our company, but also the improvement of our health care system.
