WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 26, 2016)—Many suppliers have been waiting to learn when CMS will adjust the fee schedules for group 3 accessories for power wheelchairs as mandated by the Patient Access and Medicare Protection Act (PAMPA). Unfortunately, CMS has published that the adjustments to the fee schedule will not be available until July 1, 2016.
CMS has advised suppliers that they may submit claims for these items and be paid at the lower regional or rural rate and then work with the DME MACs after July 1st or they can hold claims until after that date to get the correct payments. AAHomecare has reached out to CMS to determine if there are any other options for suppliers as waiting an additional six months to receive the correct reimbursement seems excessive.
