Industry leaders recognized as finalists for AAHomecare’s 2025 Van G. Miller Homecare Champion Award for contributions to the home medical equipment industry.

ARLINGTON, Virginia—Four finalists have been announced for the American Association for Homecare's 2025 Van G. Miller Homecare Champion Award. Beth Bowen, Bill Fredericks, Bill Guidetti and Rose Schafhauser were recognized for "their exceptional industry contributions and advocacy efforts," the organization said in its newsletter. 

“We were privileged to have an extraordinary group of nominees for this year’s Homecare Champion Award, each exemplifying the passion, dedication, and leadership that define our industry,” said Tom Ryan, AAHomecare President and CEO.

“Our four finalists have demonstrated unwavering commitment to advancing homecare–leading through challenges, shaping policy, and strengthening our community," Ryan continued. "Their tireless advocacy and impact extend far beyond their own organizations, driving meaningful change across the industry. It is an honor to recognize these champions and to work alongside them in our shared mission to protect and expand access to quality home-based care.”

The award will be given out at the AAHomecare Update at Medtrade on Wednesday, February 19. The four finalists are: 

Beth Bowen, Executive Director, ACMESA, FAHCS, NEMEP and ATHOMES
For over 25 years, Bowen has managed durable medical equipment (DME) state and regional associations in close collaboration with AAHomecare and other industry groups, protecting and advancing our industry. During challenging times, she drove ACMESA’s membership growth, welcomed suppliers from other states, and secured crucial wins. As a leader, Bowen communicates a clear vision and galvanizes support for initiatives vital to the industry. Her outstanding relationships with key players in federal and state governments, as well as private insurers, have led to innovative solutions to industry challenges. Bowen's persistent grassroots advocacy and passion make her an Industry champion and a driving force for positive change.

Bill Fredericks, President, AllCare Medical Supply 
Fredericks has spent over two decades as a steadfast advocate for homecare, exemplifying integrity, leadership, and dedication. As president of HOMES and an active AAHomecare Medical Supplies Council member, he unites legislators and the HME community to protect patient access and overcome barriers to care. His strategic advocacy has influenced reimbursement policies, supported key efforts – including garnering national media coverage addressing the national enteral formula shortage – and strengthened vital partnerships with state Medicaid leadership. Leading by example, his company provides critical care and support to their community’s most vulnerable.  A true champion for homecare, Fredericks continues to inspire and fortify the HME industry.

Bill Guidetti, EVP Sales & Operations, Apria Healthcare 
With over 37 years in the HME industry,  Guidetti has been a steadfast advocate for patients and homecare providers alike. As Chairman of AAHomecare during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, his visionary leadership secured vital support and drove critical policy changes that empowered homecare professionals to continue their essential work. Guidetti's patient-first approach and commitment to excellence have not only earned him the respect of industry peers but have also significantly influenced practices and policies across the healthcare continuum. His expertise and dedication make him a true champion of homecare and a driving force for positive change in the HME field.

Rose Schafhauser, Executive Director, MAMES & SWMESA 
For over 40 years, Schafhauser has been a trailblazer in the DME industry—from her start as a supplier to leading two influential regional HME associations covering a combined 11 states through MAMES and SWMESA.  As past AAHomecare State Leaders Council Chair and former Executive Committee member, Schafhauser is actively engaged in Jurisdiction A, B, and C councils and the NSCAC where her collaborative spirit brings together various stakeholders for the greater good. Known as a true DME warrior, her unwavering dedication and dynamic leadership inspires colleagues and stakeholders alike, making her a deserving champion for a lifetime of service to DME providers and vendors.
