The company’s successful audit completion in the first round resulted in another reprieve from Medicare

MODESTO, California—Home Oxygen Company, a provider of in-home care home medical equipment and supplies, announced that it has completed its first round of the Medicare targeted probe and education audit without error, according to Noridian Healthcare Solutions, the company’s Medicare contractor. With an “error ratio” of 0% on the audit, Noridian notified the company it completed round one of the audit process and, thus, will not be required to complete a second or third round of the audit. As a result, the audit file has been closed.

“I am very proud of the effort between our TBO intake and billing teams resulting in compliant files,” said Andrea Ewert, CEO of Home Oxygen Company. “We decided long ago to keep everything under our control, and this continues to pay dividends. We definitely feel confident in our ability to process orders and get paid.”

The company said it continually trains personnel on the need to be vigilant when preparing patient charts for billing. Additionally, the company said it strives to educate patients about the latest technologies that can help those with medical challenges maintain an active lifestyle.

After earning audit reprieves in 2017, 2018 and 2019 from both oxygen and sleep audits, Home Oxygen Company was selected by Noridian for the 2024 targeted probe and education audit of sleep-related files. The review period took place between June and September of this year.
