The company’s “ProcedurePak” surgical equipment trays were granted this year’s Capgemini Swedish Sustainability Technology Award for reducing waste & greenhouse gas emissions

GOTHENBURG, Sweden—Mölnlycke, a medical technology and device company, announced it has received the 2024 Capgemini Swedish Sustainability Technology Award for its “ProcedurePak” surgical procedure equipment trays. The award, which was presented by information technology and consulting company Capgemini in Stockholm, Sweden, aims to highlight the company’s practices and dedication to revolutionizing care.

“Our ambition is to transform our business to become a global leader in sustainable health care,” said Caterina Camerani, VP of sustainability at Mölnlycke. “This award is proof that we are on the right track. We are dedicated to equipping our customers with innovative and sustainable health care solutions—for our customers, our employees, our communities and the planet.”

The company’s ProcedurePak trays seek to enhance efficiency and help decarbonize health care by reducing waste and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. A ProcedurePak includes a sterile tray with all necessary components, aiming to reduce setup time in the operating room by up to 40% and packaging waste by up to 90% compared to procedures conducted with single-packed products. The trays intend to help hospitals simplify procurements and ensure patient safety.

“In recognition of outstanding contributions to sustainability and innovation, this year’s Swedish award celebrates a project that has significantly enhanced operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact,” said the award’s panel of judges. “(Mölnlycke’s) commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated by reducing waste, CO2 emissions and preparation time while ensuring patient safety.”
