Numotion is named a Best place to Work for Disability Inclusion after receiving a score of 100 on the 2023 Disability Equality Index (DEI).

BRENTWOOD, Tennesse—Numotion, a provider of products and services that provide mobility, health and personal independence announced it has been named a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion for a third consecutive year after receiving a score of 100 on the 2023 Disability Equality Index (DEI).

DEI is a joint initiative of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN. The DEI is a comprehensive disability inclusion assessment tool that allows leading businesses to self-report their disability practices and policies.

“Numotion is proud to be recognized for measures we have taken to create an inclusive environment for employees of all abilities,” said Mike Swinford, Numotion CEO. “This is a sustained effort that we will continue to champion and support, cultivating a workplace where every employee, of any ability, is fully respected and able to thrive in their professional growth.”

To achieve its mission, the company said it is committed to disability inclusion for its employees and community. Its ongoing work includes:

  • Working to help ensure that its benefits, recruitment, employment and accommodation practices fully consider and include individuals with disabilities.
  • When a candidate for employment is selected to be interviewed, Numotion works with the candidate if any accommodation is needed to help them successfully participate in the interview process.
  • When Numotion implements any new digital product, both internally or externally, it works closely with that vendor to ensure that accessibility is discussed and meets its standards.
  • Executive sponsorship and support for the Numotion Disability Alliance Network, which serves as a resource and an advocate to foster a cooperative, accessible environment for employees with disabilities, employees who have family members with disabilities and anyone who identifies as an ally to people living with disabilities.
  • Made up of the CEO, the CEO’s leadership team, Employee Resource Group (ERG) co-leaders and select HR and other business leaders, the Numotion Diversity and Inclusion Council meets frequently and focuses on its strategic pillars, ERGs and metrics that will yield the most diverse and inclusive organization possible.

“Businesses have the power to drive the global advancement of disability inclusion, and we’re thrilled to see more companies than ever leverage the Disability Equality Index to measure their progress. We recognize these top-scoring companies as a ‘Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion’ for their passion and efforts to lead the way in creating greater equity for people with disabilities in the workplace, marketplace and supply chain,” said Jill Houghton, president and CEO of Disability:IN.

The DEI takes about 40 hours to complete each year and is completed online. It is modeled off the Corporate Equality Index that highlights LGBTQ-inclusive workplace policies. The DEI was created by the DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts and disability advocates. Now in its ninth year, the DEI exists to help businesses make a positive impact on the unemployment/underemployment of people with disabilities.

The 2023 DEI measured: culture & leadership; enterprise-wide access; employment practices (benefits, recruitment, employment, education, retention & advancement, accommodations); community engagement; supplier diversity; non-U.S. operations (non-weighted).
