Two new members were welcomed to the consultant team, aiming to enhance van Halem’s services

ATLANTA—The van Halem Group announced the addition of Melissa Pederson and Dr. William Felix to its team of expert consultants. Wayne van Halem, president of The van Halem Group, said he is thrilled to welcome them both to the team.

“Their background, skills and expertise are perfectly aligned with the services we provide to our clients, and we are lucky to have them,” said van Halem.

Pederson brings more than 27 years of nursing experience to the team. Prior to joining The van Halem Group, she worked for Noridian, the Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractor (DME MAC). While there, she served as a clinical reviewer of DME claims in the redetermination department.

“I’m very excited to be part of The van Halem Group,” said Pederson. “I look forward to this new role and to offer my expertise in audits and appeals to our clients.”

Felix offers knowledge of integrating technologies into health care policy and overseeing clinical guideline development. Felix previously served as the medical director of policy at Cohere Health, where he specialized in the integration of innovative technologies into health care policies. His experience includes tenure as chief medical officer for Medicare durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) and medical director of the pricing, data analysis, and coding (PDAC) division at Palmetto GBA. In these roles, Felix developed coding standards for various medical devices and helped the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recognize 3D printing as a viable method for custom fabrication of orthoses. Additionally, he expanded the integration and definition of powered orthotics for CMS billing and coding.

“I am truly honored to join The van Halem Group, a team renowned for its leadership in the health care policy and compliance industry,” said Felix. “I look forward to contributing my experience in integrating advanced technologies into health care policies and working alongside Wayne and the rest of the team to continue driving innovation and excellence for our clients.”

The addition of these new members emphasizes The van Halem Group’s commitment to excellence and its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of consulting services, the company said.
